Moving Valuation and Insurance: Protect Your Move
We are liable for your goods that you ask us to transport. There are, however, different levels of liability. The level you choose will determine the type and amount of reimbursement you will receive if an item is lost or damaged. Be aware of the various types of protection available below and the charges for each option.
Check with your homeowner’s or renters insurance policy to see if you’re already covered as the price for this option is usually the most economical for full replacement.
Options for Protecting your Move:
Full (Replacement) Value – 2) repair the article to the extent necessary to restore it to the same condition as when it was received by true Friends, or pay you the cost of such repairs; or 2) replace the article with an article of like kind and quality, or pay you for the cost of such a replacement. An additional charge applies to this option.
Released Value INCLUDED – 3) True Friends has a maximum liability under State Law for loss or damage to your property of $0.60 per pound, per article up to a maximum of $2,000.00. There is no additional cost for this option. You may increase this liability for loss or damage by accepting additional valuation charges.
For options 1 and 2, you must select either a lump sum value of your shipment or an amount per pound that may not be less than $6.00 per pound, whichever is greater.
Option 3 – There is no extra charge for this option, you will be asked to initial that you are releasing the shipment with this level of liability before the job begins. If you choose this option then the carrier/mover is only liable for .60 cents per pound per article. The insurance company uses the “Uniform Table of Weights” to determine the weight of any given item.
Any and all claims must be filed with true Friends Moving Company in writing within 15 days of completing the move. Moving valuation is NON-REFUNDABLE once purchased.
